50 LCD TV
The prices of television sets have come down so dramatically that it is now possible to buy a good 50 LCD TV that offers more than a few benefits. Obviously the greater size is a big attracting but it also provides more features including HD programming that are available at very attractive prices. In fact, over the recent past the market for big sized LCD televisions has been flooded with numerous makes and models that provide excellent video and audio experiences.
A few years ago a good 50 LCD TV would cost you a lot of money and only provide 720p resolution. Today, you can get feature-rich fifty inch LCD televisions that provide 1080p resolution thereby giving you a bigger bang for the buck. LCD manufacturers such as Samsung have led the field in offering top class fifty inch LCD televisions though the other manufacturers are also providing their own makes and models that provide numerous benefits to the committed television viewer.
The major brands all have excellent fifty inch LCD television models that besides offering bigger television screen size also are more energy efficient. Even though most LCD televisions suffer from a drawback in that viewing angles might be slightly less as compared to the traditional CRT television sets, these new LCD TV’s are becoming more affordable and if you have a room that is large enough then you should definitely opt for a large sized model.
Shopping for these big sized LCD televisions during the Christmas season is a good idea because of discount pricing though if current trends in LCD television pricing continue it will not be long before you can pick up some very attractively priced models in the foreseeable future.
Reading reviews about different manufacturers is a good idea as you will get expert opinions and also find out what other television buyers have to say. This way you can form the right opinion about different models.
Today, you can go out and purchase a good 50 LCD TV for less than two thousand dollars and if you check out every available option you may be pleasantly surprised to find that some are even available for about fifteen hundred dollars.
Models from Samsung or Sony are often much sought after because you get better resolution (1080p) and these products are also very energy efficient and in addition you get excellent dynamic contrast (150000:1) plus response time of just two milliseconds and there are various other features available as well.

XBR cant be beat!!!, December 3, 2009
This is my second Sony XBR purchase. This tv rocks! I own an older and smaller XBR2 40 that is amazing and problem free. The XBR9 is also half as thick as the XBR2. I cant say enough good about this tv!
I cant wait for the XBR10 to come out and the price to come down. Rumor has it that the 10 is only 30mm thick and 8lbs lighter.
I will for sure buy again!

Sony is Big for a Reason!, December 3, 2009
I spent a long time deciding on which TV to get. I was initially deciding between the Samsung LED 7000/8000 Series and this Sony XBR9 LCD.
yes, the Samsung LED is bright and thin, but the overall appeal you get is just not the same. the sound isn’t that great, either. and after i searched around online for any problems related to the Samsung LED, i found a few regarding corner brightness. I did not, however, find anything related to XBR9.
Sony XBR9, although not as thin, is very impressive. the sound is great and the picture quality is top-notch. seriously, unless you are going to hang ur TV on a wall, or you’re going to display your TV outside your house for everyone to admire the thinness of it, the “extra slim” feature doesn’t really mean anything.
i’ve had this TV for almost a month now and i look at it everyday and think to myself, “yes, i’ve made the right decision!”
it’s a beautiful piece of equipment that further beautifies your room

Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR9, November 30, 2009
This is one terrific TV. The 240 MHz refresh rate makes the picture perfectly smooth…no studdering during fast action scenes. The colors are bright and very realistic. I haven’t purchased a blue ray DVD player yet but the non blue ray DVDs are just fine.
The hook up went without of hitch..I did not mount the TV on my wall.
One issue I had was with the shipping. While I was tracking the shipment to Chicago, I saw a notation “package damaged”. I immediately called Amazon and they in turn, called the carrier. The carrier told them it was a bit of water damaged but that it should not be a problem. Amazon also told me that if I had any issues when it was delived, I could refuse delivery. When the package arrived, there was no water damage visible but there was a hole punched in the side, apparently by a fork lift. I peered in the hole and there did not seem to be any damage. The delivery folks unpacked it, set it up and went through the initial set up. So far, the TV is working just fine. A bit scary but all seems well.

LCD vs LED vs plasma….., November 24, 2009
First, amazon’s arranged delivery service is first class. The TV was delivered, installed and checked for proper functioning by CEVA logistics (so called white glove delivery). I was not expecting it but I surely appreciated it, most other vendors will not have this or will charge you extra. The TV is nice looking, has no glare and is easy to set up. The sound quality is standard for this type of TV. The picture quality is very good for HD but not as good as LED or the best image quality out there plasma TV. The standard definition image is average (not as good as LG’s plasma TVs). This is a solid performance TV but if you have a very discriminating vision then you should consider getting a high end plasma TV (Samsung, Panasonic or LG) which by the way will perform much better and most likely will cost a lot less. If you don’t like plasma TVs because you have read or were told not to like them then consider the LEDs but be prepared to cough up close to a grand more.
